Being gay is not a choice; it is a fundamental part of one’s identity. It is not a phase, a trend, or a lifestyle. It is simply who we are. It took me 30 years to come to terms with my sexuality and to accept myself for who I am, and I am not going to closet myself or hide my true identity because of someone else’s discomfort.
A pronoun is a word that you use to refer to someone or something when you do not need to use a noun, often because the person or thing has been mentioned earlier.
For me, Pronouns are not just my designation, they are an essential part of my identity. My pronouns reflect who I am and how I want to be addressed. They are not up for debate, or a matter of someone else’s preference or point of view. They are a crucial aspect of my identity. Using the wrong pronouns can be incredibly hurtful and disrespectful for many. So before you assume; ask.
For years, the LGBTQ+ community has been subjected to discrimination, hate crimes, and societal prejudice. It is time for us to be seen and heard as human beings with the same rights as everyone else. Rather than making case studies of us, corporates and society should take the time to understand our issues and provide us with the support we need to live our lives without fear of persecution.
Acceptance is the key to creating a better world for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We need to create an inclusive society, where everyone is free to be themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination. It is not enough to condone diversity; we must embrace it and celebrate it.
Being gay is my identity, and my pronouns are my designation. It is a fundamental part of who I am, and I will not apologize for it. I am proud of who I am and the community that I belong to. Rather than enduring us as if we are some exotic species, society and the government should accept us for who we are and work towards creating a world that is inclusive and accepting of everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
