Custodians of the So-called-Society

A man, sitting in an air-conditioned conference room, conceptualizing and presenting a new idea: “Love your Parents.” What a brilliant thought.

Parallelly, he has been getting calls from a known number, which he has been avoiding for a while now. He excuses himself from the room to come out and yells, “Don’t you get the point? I’m in the middle of an important meeting.” The call was from an old-age home, which is now his parents’ permanent address.

In a similar setup, another man explains and debates the idea: “Know and understand your kids.”

He too gets a call, but here it is from his wife, informing him that he lost his son forever. A son who was so devastated by his forcefully arranged marriage, orchestrated by his parents, that death seemed to be the only way to escape.

What an irony.

Such are the self-appointed custodians of the so-called society, who use modern communication to manipulate the emotions of the current world. Well, I guess the world has always been like that, and I’m living in the present. All they are doing is selling emotions. A man who couldn’t respect his own parents explains their importance so that tomorrow his own kids won’t behave towards them in the same manner. The parents who couldn’t understand the misery of their own son out there, generalizing their love for kids. They are doing this because of guilt, fear. Fear that tomorrow no one can stand up and challenge them. No one will ever get to hear the miseries of the son or the cry of the muted parents, and all thanks to them.

Is this even justified?

I’m sick and tired of watching the same melodrama, where people will “Awww” and cry, but eventually take nothing from it.

One doesn’t need a specific day to celebrate motherhood, fatherhood, or their children. I don’t want a third person coming up to me and explaining things that really don’t matter or emphasizing emotions that already exist. It is important for an individual to educate himself/herself and then comprehend.
The world will never change until we change ourselves.
The world will never understand until we do.
